Kids Heart Challenge- Kick Off January 13, 2023

For nearly 45 years, the American Heart Association has been partnering with educators in elementary, middle and high schools across the nation to help educate students about healthy living.

The Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge school programs provide unique age-appropriate curriculum and activities. Students and educators have the tools needed to support both mental and physical well-being in students, families and staff, all while making a difference by raising funds to save lives.

Did you know that Camarena is the #1 fundraising school in San Diego county for the American Heart Associations Kids Heart Challenge?  That’s right!  For the past several years our school has raised more money that any other school in the county to help others in need!  We are kicking it all off this Friday and will be sending home more information this weekend.

Reminders

  • Fall is respiratory virus season and there are a lot of viruses circulating. CDPH still requires individuals to test if they have even ONE Covid-19 like symptom (headache, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, etc.) and be negative before returning. Individuals whose symptoms worsen should stay home until 1) improving and 2) negative repeat test.  I understand this can be an inconvenience  but these are the guidelines we must follow from CDPH to keep school open.  Our staff is simply following the guidelines to keep schools open and safe for all students.
  • Please follow all traffic rules and signs.  RED curbs are fire lanes and there is absolutely no stopping/parking next to a red curb.  YELLOW curbs are for loading and unloading only.  If you park next to a red curb or leave your car when next to a yellow curb, you may be ticketed.
  • At 8:15 school starts and we become a secure campus for the safety of your child.  Anyone arriving at 8:15 is considered tardy and will need to check in at the health office for a green pass.  Our gates open at 7:30 each morning allowing for a 45 minute drop off window.
  • Attendance/truant letters are going out this week.  If you child has 3 or more unexcused absences/tardies we will be setting up a meeting to discuss ways to support your child.
  • Our campus is a polling site for the election 11/5-11/8.
  • I have attached the parent/student handbook again for reference.
