VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 

  • Safety Patrol needs parent volunteers both before and after school.
  • The Military Picnic event on August 22 needs volunteers.
  • MTSS Committee needs volunteers to support the social and emotional needs of our students.

Join the Camarena Birthday Book Club!  Book Club members will have their birthdays celebrated on Friday, September 13 during the morning ceremony on the blacktop at 8:15 am and receive their birthday book.

  • You must have authorization to take pictures or video tape other people’s children per board policy.  Additionally, a media release form must be signed and on file if students photos or videos are to be shared on any form of media, this includes social media.  Unauthorized persons on or off campus taking videos/pictures of students while on campus may be reported to the authorities.
  • Breakfast is from 7:30 am to 8:00 am and school STARTS at 8:15 am.  Please plan accordingly.
  • Make sure your child has everything they need before coming to school:  Water bottles, lunches, homework, backpacks, info regarding pickup, etc.  The school office is not permitted to make deliveries or interrupt classroom instruction.

Visitors/Volunteers may come on to campus this week. Please remember to sign in at the front office and wear your visitor’s/volunteer badge at all times.

  • Teachers are responsible for supervising their students in the mornings so please give him/her a note or schedule a conference if you need to talk to your child’s teacher.
  • Make sure children have what they need before coming to school.
  • Requests for classroom assignment changes must be in writing and will be considered after August 12 if space is available.
  • When picking up students at the end of the day NO PARENTS are allowed upstairs. For everyones safety and to keep hallways clear for students please wait downstairs.
  • The play structures are not available for play during arrival and dismissal.
  • Medication is kept in the health office only.

2. Please do not park and/or leave your vehicle in the drive through zone.
3. NO Dogs during arrival and dismissal.
4. Please do not park in RESERVED spaces.
5. Students must walk bikes, hover boards, and skate boards on side walks.
6. Students not picked up by 2:55 pm (1:25 pm on minimum days) will be escorted to the office and must sign in.  Persons picking up the child must come to the office to sign him/her out.
7. For everyone’s safety BE PATIENT, KIND, and CONSIDERATE.

School Site Council (SSC) Needs at least 3 Parent Representatives!  SSC Ballots come home Monday, July 29 and voting will be open through August 2.  If you would like to be a write in candidate please add your name to the ballot.   The first official SSC meeting will Monday, August 5 at 3:00 pm.

Monday, July 29 at 2:50 pm – 3:20 pm Safety Patrol will meet in room 411.

Thursday, August 1 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am the nurse will be available for TB Clearance for those who want to volunteer and do not have clearance on file.

Thursday, August 1 – Smoothies will be sold after school every Thursday.

Students in grades 4-6 who are interested in running for Student Council can pick up the applications in room 310 or 314 this week through Friday, August 2.  Completed applications are due on Friday, August 9.

July 22, 2019

July 22 at 8:15 am is the First Day of School for students in grades 1-6 and is a Minimum Day (Dismissal is 1:15 pm).  Students report directly to their classrooms on the 1st Day of School.  If students are having Breakfast they may do so between 7:30 am – 8:00 am.  All students should be at their classrooms at 8:15 am.  Class Lists are posted outside the front office.  For safety reasons we do not post class lists online.

  • Kindergarten students and parents report to the auditorium at 8:30 am – 10:30 am for the Kindergarten Orientation.  Kinders will be dismissed to go home with their parents after orientation.
  • July 23 – 26 Kindergarten dismissal is 1:00 pm.
  • July 29 Kindergarten schedule 8:15 am – 2:30 pm Monday – Thursday and 8:15 am – 1:00 pm on Fridays for the rest of the school year.

Smoothies will be available to purchase after school tomorrow.  A portion of the proceeds goes back to our school.  After tomorrow, Smoothie Thursdays will be back beginning August 1st.

Students in Grades 1-6 Parent Curriculum Information Meetings in the classrooms:

  • 1:30 pm or 2:00 pm Grades 1 & 2
  • 2:45 pm or 3:15 pm Grades 3 & 4
  • 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm Grades 5 & 6

If your child needs to take medication while at school, please stop by the Health Office.  All medications is kept in the Health Office not with the student.

Students MUST walk all Scooters, Skateboards, and Bicycles while on campus.  Students MUST wears helmets!  Heelies and light up shoes are not allowed.

The School Office will be closed for the summer Friday, June 14 at 4:00 pm.  The Office will re-open Thursday, July 11. All students must prove residency before being placed on a class list for next school year.  Click Here for What to Bring. 

Friday, July 19 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Find out who your child’s teacher is at our “Meet the Teacher” night here on the Camarena playground blacktop!  PTA will also be on hand to discuss opportunities for volunteering for various activities and events.  Please note that only students who have completed residency verification will be placed on a class list.

  • All incoming Kindergarten students will report to the auditorium at 8:30 am – 10:30 am for a Kindergarten Orientation.  Please note that Kinders will be dismissed to go home with their parents after orientation.  Kindergarten students will also be on a Minimum Day schedule the first week of school – dismissal at 1:00 pm.   Beginning July 29 Kindergarten students will be on the regular daily schedule (8:15 am – 2:30 pm Monday – Thursday and 1:30 pm dismissal every Friday).

Also, on July 22 all grades levels will have two sessions for their Curriculum Overview Parent Inservices as follows:

  • 1:30 pm or 2:00 pm Grades 1 & 2
  • 2:45 pm or 3:15 pm Grades 3 & 4
  • 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm Grades 5 & 6

On July 25 there will be two Parent Academy and Volunteer In-services.  You can choose either 8:30 am or 6:00 pm and find out about the school rules, school safety, volunteering and more.  Please note that for safety reasons no visitors or volunteers are allowed on campus during the instructional day the first 2 weeks of school.  Visitors and volunteers will be allowed on campus beginning Monday, August 5.
