Big Smiles Dentist is Coming to Camarena
A form should have come home this week from “Big Smiles” dentist. They are coming to Camarena on March 7, 2025 and offering dental services for our students. If you would like your child to see a dentist, please complete and return the form or register at https://www.myschooldentist.com/
News from Big Smiles: We know that parents often find taking their children to the dentist to be a challenge due a variety of issues including transportation and having to take time off from work. That’s why so many parents tell us how much they appreciate the ease and convenience of the in-school dentist, knowing that their children’s teeth are being kept healthy. Plus, kids are more comfortable seeing the dentist in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their school.
We gladly accept Medicaid and CHIP as well as private insurance which almost always pay for 100% of treatment, so there is NO COST TO YOUR PARENTS. In addition, we offer a highly discounted self-pay option. For those without insurance or the means to pay, we are pleased to offer a grant program. NO CHILD IS TURNED AWAY DUE TO AN INABILITY TO PAY.
Campus LEAD Club Information
Per the district this year LEAD changed the release process. We implemented a PIN-based system to ensure the safety of all students. When parents arrive at the MPR to pick up their child we will set them up with their pin. Please make sure to bring a government issued ID.
These clubs will be cancelled due to the instructors being at 6th grade camp.

LEAD Academy for Spring Break
The LEAD Academy Program is offered during intersession (fall, spring, and summer) at no cost to CVESD students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Funded through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, LEAD Academy offers various academic and fun enrichment activities, field trips, and meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks).
*Spaces are limited. The highest priority is given to students identified as “unduplicated” (foster youth, unsheltered, students living in motels/hotels, temporarily doubled up, students in temporary shelters, English language learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students). After the highest priority students are registered, additional students will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis.*
Where is the LEAD Academy Program located? The LEAD Academy Program will be offered at six school sites: Castle Park, Clear View, Cook, Hilltop, Loma Verde, and Sotomayor.
Spring Registration Dates: Friday, February 7- Friday, February 14 *Registration opens at 6 p.m.
Accepted and Waitlist Notification: Friday, March 7, 2025 *Email notification by 6 p.m.
Spring Program Dates Monday, March 24- Friday, April 4, 2025 *Closed Friday, March 28 and Monday, March 31, 2025 Spring Program Hours 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
